Bob Parks Found a Home in Real Estate
Published Jul 22, 2008

It took just one college course to hook Bob Parks on real estate and that passion has translated into a successful Rutherford County-based residential and commercial real estate brokerage and development enterprise.

Parks began his real estate career shortly after graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 1970 when he joined a local firm as a licensed Realtor. In 1975, he formed Bob Parks Realty, which has grown to a team of more than 550 agents and residential sales volume of more than $1.5 billion in 2006, second highest in Tennessee.

“I’ve always been a risk taker and I’ve never shied away from that,” Parks says of his decision to start a business.

Hard work coupled with honesty, integrity and ensuring employees have a good environment in which to work are what Parks credits as the sustaining forces of the enterprise. Parks’ interests have grown to include developer and builder Main Street Homes, and Park Trust Development LLC, a commercial and residential real estate developer that develops more than 700 home sites a year.

“You will not be successful overnight, and you need to plan for the long term,” he says of starting a business. “You have to focus on those that work for you and make the environment a pleasant one for them.”

The area’s quality growth and diversity of opportunity are traits that Parks says make Rutherford County not only a great place to do business but also to call home. “The overall quality of life in Middle Tennessee is unsurpassed.”
