Bright Idea Becomes Illuminating Business

Mike Strickland
Owner and CEO
Bandit Lites Inc.

Mike Strickland’s company shines a light on some of the biggest names in the entertainment business.

With its biggest facility in La Vergne and offices in Knoxville, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Bandit Lites Inc. has become the world’s second-largest lighting-for-hire company.

For more than 40 years, the company has worked with a variety of entertainment clients including Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Gladys Knight, B.B, King, Christina Aguilera and the NASCAR Awards program.

When opportunity, luck and dedication collide, Strickland says, a business will be successful.

“You have to be presented with the opportunities in life to go forward,” he says. “You need a whole lot of luck to be in the right place when opportunities come your way and the dedication to stick with the mission to make it all work. If you remove any one of those three pieces, I truly believe your chances for success are greatly diminished.”
