Murfreesboro’s Six-Figure Milestone

Tennessee has made official what most people already suspected: Murfreesboro is in six figures.

The Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development has certified the city’s population at 100,585 following a city-led special census. The new figure is more than 19,000 above the 2005 special census population for Murfreesboro, a 23 percent growth rate.

The additional head count will help the city’s finances, since many state revenues are shared with localities based on population.
