New Roads Keep Traffic Flowing in Murfreesboro
Published Jul 22, 2008

Some new roads in Rutherford County were designed to help traffic flow, and they already are doing their job.

The extension of Parthenon Parkway has opened in La Vergne following five years of planning and construction. The extension allows drivers to bypass school traffic on Stones River Road and lets Lake Forest Estates residents gain quicker access to Murfreesboro Road and Interstate 24.

Meanwhile, the New Salem Highway interchange off I-24 is easing traffic in Murfreesboro. One big reason is that the highway provides a more direct route to Middle Tennessee State University for those exiting the interstate. And a widening to five lanes for Beasley Road is opening development near the State Route 840 interchange.
